New Policy Update: Photo Proof Required Before Invoicing IKEA Assembly Tasks

We’re rolling out a new photo upload step in the Tasker app to help protect your hard work, resolve client claims faster, and improve support experiences for everyone.

What’s Changing?

Until now, uploading photos after an IKEA task was optional. Moving forward, Taskers must upload at least one photo of each completed job before submitting an invoice.

This new feature will appear directly in the Tasker app and will guide you through the upload process — think of it as your final task step before getting paid.

A visual record = your best protection. Whether it’s a perfectly assembled dining table or bookshelf, a photo confirms that your IKEA job was done — and done well.

How to Take a Great Task Photo

Taking clear photos is required, and photos that are not up to these standards will be in violation of the policy.

  • Focus on the finished task. Do not photograph people or any other identifiable belongings that could reveal the identity of a person.
  • Use good lighting. Natural light is great. Avoid dark or blurry shots.
  • Multiple items? Multiple photos. For example, built a bed and a nightstand? Snap one of each.
  • Ongoing task? Upload photos at the end of each

FAQs

What does Taskrabbit do with the photos I upload of my work?

Taskrabbit securely saves these photos. We use them to help protect Taskers against client claims regarding work quality or damage. Additionally, we review them internally to ensure quality workmanship and clear photo submissions. Soon, clients will also be able to view these photos as proof of satisfactory job completion.

What Does Taskrabbit Consider a Good Quality Photo?

A good quality photo is clear and focused on your completed work. Ensure that you have good lighting and that the completed work is clearly in the frame. Capture all aspects of the task, but do not photograph people or any other identifiable belongings that could reveal the identity of a person. Note that providing poor-quality photos is against our policy.

What If I Forget to Take or Upload a Photo?

Life happens! If you forget to take a photo, you can ask the client within 24 hours to upload a photo via the chat. If they aren’t able to, don’t worry; you’ll be allowed to skip this step up to 3 times. Exceeding the allowed skips is a policy violation may result in account limitation or removal from the IKEA category.

How Many Photos Should I Upload?

Upload enough photos to clearly show all the work you completed. This might be one photo for a small task, or several for larger or multiple items. For example, if you assembled a bed and a nightstand, take a separate photo of each. You can upload up to 20 photos per appointment.

What If I’m Having Trouble Uploading Photos?

Trouble uploading photos can happen for a few reasons. In general, try uploading one photo at a time over wifi, which is faster and more reliable than cell service. Sometimes an image won’t upload because it’s too  big; in this case, you can take a screenshot of your photo and upload it instead to reduce the file size.

Lastly, make sure your image is in the correct format (heic, heif, jpg or png).

I Uploaded the Wrong Photo. How Can I Edit?

Once you’ve uploaded photos from your device, you’ll have the option to add additional photos or delete any accidental uploads before submitting the invoice. Rest assured, we only securely store your photos after you submit your invoice, never beforehand.

What About Photos for Bundled Jobs?

For large orders where multiple Taskers are working on the assembly, each Tasker should take their own set of photos of the work they complete.

What About Photos for Ongoing Jobs?

If a job is marked as ongoing and has several appointments, you are responsible for taking and uploading photos after each individual task within that ongoing job.

What if a Client Doesn’t Want Me to Take Photos Inside Their Home?

We recommend explaining to the client that taking a photo of completed work is similar to how delivery services take photos of packages to confirm delivery. It helps Taskrabbit protect everyone using the platform, both Taskers and clients, by providing proof that the task was completed. If the client still refuses, you should not take any photos in their home, and contact Taskrabbit Customer Support.

What Photo Format Can I Use?

You can upload jpg/jpeg, heic/heif, png, or proRAW format photos.

Thanks for all the great work you do — this update is here to support you and make sure you’re covered every step of the way.
